Asheville's Weaver Park, located at 200 Murdock Avenue, is slated to receive major updates and renovations as part of a building permit filed with the city on Friday.
The 6.5 acre park currently features a playground, walking trails, and several sporting courts. It serves as the central hub for North Asheville's little league team.
The proposed changes include:
Repaving the existing walking trail
A full replacement of the softball field's infrastructure. This includes the fencing and the dugouts. As part of this project the bleacher and dugout locations will be swapped.
Replacement of the playground equipment.
Improving ADA access and installing pedestrian lighting around the walking path.
