Lenny’s Grill & Subs planning second location in West Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Lenny’s Grill & Subs is preparing to open a new restaurant at 278 Smokey Park Highway in West Asheville. The new restaurant will open in the former Subway space and become the chain’s second Asheville location.

The project is led by franchise owner Assef Alnasraween, who has operated the city’s first Lenny’s for more than a decade. Permit filings indicate interior work is underway to convert the former Subway layout to fit Lenny’s format. No major expansion is planned since Lenny’s will be leasing the space, but the remodel will refresh the existing footprint to accommodate the chain’s menu and service style.

Subway closed earlier this year, leaving the restaurant space vacant along a heavily traveled stretch of Smokey Park Highway. The corridor serves both neighborhood residents and daily commuters, making it a strategic site for the franchise.

An opening date has not been announced. The restaurant will join roughly 100 other Lenny’s locations nationwide, with most concentrated in the Southeast.
