The former site of Sawhorse, a cult-classic diner and one of the great Asheville restaurants, is scheduled for demolition.

The single-story diner, located at 101 New Leicester Highway, was a local hangout and favorite for many. The business closed in April 2023 following the decision of its owner, Dan Silo, to “take a break” from the restaurant industry.
RL Jordan Oil Company, the owner of The Hotspot convenience store brand, acquired the property in July 2023. According to permits recently filed with the City of Asheville, the company plans to demolish the existing building and transform the site into additional parking for the neighboring Hotspot location. While this may ease many of the parking woes which came with a visit to “Poor Boys Hotspot”, it still represents the end of an era for many.
