Big brother is always watching, and the City of Asheville is no exception.
Upon request from AOTB, the City of Asheville has a provided a copy of the contract with Flock Safety to install five Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras at high-traffic intersections across the city.

Based on the provided information, the City of Asheville will pay Flock Safety $72,818.50 over a period of two years for the installation and operation of these camera units.
These cameras will be equipped with Flock's Vehicle Fingerprint technology. This means these cameras are capable of using machine learning to identify a specific vehicle off the make, color, or identifying decals without actually scanning or reading the license plate.
Furthermore, the End User License Agreement expressly permits Flock to use (anonymized) imagery taken by these cameras to train their machine learning algorithm.
