Ask Ahead of the Build: What is happening at the Haywood Road Family Dollar?

The former Family Dollar at 609 Haywood Road in West Asheville will be reopening as a Pet Supplies Plus. The Family Dollar location closed in January 2024. The company did not provide an explanation for the closure.

Pet Supplies Plus is a privately held chain of pet stores with over 730 locations across 44 states. It is currently one of the fastest growing pet franchises in the country. This will be the second location for Pet Supplies Plus in the Asheville region. Their first Asheville location opened in 1991 and is adjacent to the Whole Foods Market on Hendersonville Road.

An official opening date for the new storefront has not yet been announced. However, the company is actively hiring with multiple job listings on Indeed.
